Our Team

Whole-state health grows from whole-person and whole-community health. We envision a future where every North Carolinian—regardless of who they are or where they live—has the opportunity to live a healthy life and access care.

For 40 years, weve contributed to meaningful change by connecting state and local leaders through advocacy, programs, research, and education.

Support a healthy, prosperous North Carolina

Ready to support whole-state health driven by community-based solutions?

When people are healthy, our communities are healthy, and when our communities are healthy, our state is healthy. We see this in the data, and we see it on the ground in communities.

When people have the opportunity to live healthier lives, everyone benefits. We end up with more money in our pockets, better relationships, lower health care bills, and more resilient communities.

As a community-driven nonprofit, we walk alongside the people we serve to build a North Carolina where everyone has the opportunity to live a healthy life and access care. Each of our programs specializes in a distinct yet interconnected area of health. Our unique organizational structure fosters collaboration across disciplines and cross-sector partnerships to advance whole-person, whole-community, and whole-state health.

Jim and Sue Bernstein Health Center Scholarships

Jim Bernstein established a network of 81 community-based clinics and centers across North Carolina. He and his wife Sue, a former Peace Corps volunteer, created the Jim and Sue Bernstein Health Center Scholarships. Awarded annually, the scholarship pays for the clinical education of employees working at eligible health centers and college for their dependents.

NCCARE360, the first statewide coordinated care network, connects North Carolinians with vital social support, from housing and transportation assistance to food access and more.
